JACKING & SKIDDING OF VESSLE HULL FOR TRANSPORTATION AND LAUNCHING
2024
Project Scope
This operation involved the controlled jacking and skidding of a vessel hull to facilitate its movement for transportation and subsequent launching. The process began with detailed planning, including load calculations, ground preparation, and the installation of skid tracks and support systems to ensure stability throughout the operation. CRU HL team methodically and strategically jacked up the hull utilising our HL jack. this was done to free the hull from its holding frame in the maintenance area dna to prepare for transfer from the storage ares to the lifting area. our CRU 500T mobile crane equipped with 2 spreader bars one at each end to minimisecompression on the hull – then offloaded the hull from the trailer and safely into the dry dock
The vessel hull was gradually lifted using hydraulic jacks to the required height, after which it was systematically skidded along pre-arranged tracks using synchronized pushing systems. Continuous monitoring was carried out to maintain alignment, balance, and structural integrity during movement.
Upon reaching the designated position, the hull was prepared for either onward transportation or launching. All activities were executed in line with strict safety protocols, ensuring precision handling and preventing any structural damage to the vessel.
