Removal, Transfer & Installation of Heavy Industrial Units Within Operational Facility
2025
Project Scope
Executed a highly critical heavy-lift operation involving the removal of two existing industrial units and the installation of two replacement units within a live production facility environment. The project scope included the controlled lifting and offloading of the old units onto modular trailers, followed by the loading, transportation, and placement of the new units from the storage area to the designated lifting zone within the site.
Although the transfer distance between operational points was minimal, the complexity of the project was driven by the extreme weight of the units and the demanding lifting configuration required for execution. Each unit weighed approximately 155 tons, resulting in crane utilization exceeding 90% of the rated lifting capacity during the operation, classifying the activity as a critical lift requiring detailed engineering reviews, lift studies, and comprehensive risk assessments prior to execution.
To safely manage the load distribution and structural integrity of the units during lifting, the operation required the deployment of specialized heavy-lift equipment, including dual 110-ton modular spreader bars, advanced rigging systems, and precision lifting arrangements. Due to the critical nature of the lift and the proximity to operational infrastructure, the client carried out a full production shutdown to create a controlled working environment and ensure maximum operational safety throughout the lifting activities.
Following the lifting and positioning phase, the replacement units were carefully installed onto the platform, after which the client completed the final skidding operation into their permanent position. The entire project was executed under strict safety supervision, coordinated engineering control, and continuous operational monitoring, demonstrating advanced expertise in high-capacity critical lifting and complex industrial equipment handling within restricted operational environments.
